Il Kawasaki Racing Team entra nel FIM Motocross World Championship più forte che mai nel 2025, poiché il team gareggerà in entrambe le classi principali quest’anno; oltre alla ricca storia del team nella classe MXGP, si aprirà un nuovo capitolo poiché si schiererà anche nella classe MX2.
Con sede a Lommel (Belgio), considerata il “cuore del motocross europeo”, il Kawasaki Racing Team ha una lunga esperienza nelle corse nella principale serie off-road, poiché sia il proprietario che la dirigenza del team sono coinvolti nel motorsport da molti anni.
L’ex campione del mondo di Formula 1 Kimi Räikkönen, il team principal che è appassionato di motocross fin dall’infanzia, è universalmente rispettato nello sport, così come il team manager Antti Pyrhönen, che ha gareggiato con successo nel campionato del mondo di motocross per più di un decennio prima di dedicarsi alla dirigenza del team dodici anni fa.
Lavorando a stretto contatto con Kawasaki Motors Ltd, il team ha ottenuto risultati eccezionali durante le ultime due campagne, celebrando ventitré podi GP, sei vittorie GP e dodici vittorie di moto nella classe MXGP, l’apice delle corse fuoristrada.
Durante tutto l’inverno, i membri del team e gli ingegneri giapponesi hanno lavorato sistematicamente per ottimizzare l’impegno di Kawasaki nei confronti delle nuove regole tecniche e ambientali FIM con continui aggiornamenti e perfezionamenti delle moto di fabbrica KX-SR, che a loro volta sono sviluppate a partire dalle moto di serie disponibili per i clienti presso la rete mondiale di concessionari Kawasaki.
I test sono andati alla perfezione nella soleggiata Sardegna per tutto gennaio, per preparare le prime gare pre-stagionali, la prima delle quali è ospitata dal Salop Motor Club all’Hawkstone Park in Inghilterra prima del round di apertura del campionato mondiale FIM in Argentina il 1° e 2 marzo.
È stato un inverno intenso e movimentato, poiché il team non solo continuerà a impegnarsi per il successo nella classe MXGP con il francese Romain Febvre, che sarà la sua quarta stagione con il team, e il lettone Pauls Jonass, ex campione del mondo MX2, ma amplierà anche il proprio portfolio entrando nella classe MX2 come team ufficiale Kawasaki per la prima volta con Mathis Valin.

Romain Febvre: “Abbiamo avuto le condizioni perfette per lavorare in Sardegna; ho anche avuto un programma di allenamento fisico perfetto in Spagna prima di Natale e poi di nuovo in Sardegna. Gli ingegneri giapponesi erano con noi in Sardegna; abbiamo avuto sessioni di test di successo con loro e devo dire che la moto ora mi si adatta ancora meglio! Mi sento fiducioso per la stagione che verrà; ora non vedo l’ora di essere dietro il cancelletto di partenza per finalizzare la nostra preparazione!”
Pauls Jonass: “Finora è andato tutto molto bene, buona preparazione e buone settimane di test in Sardegna, è stato bello conoscere sempre di più la moto e lavorare su cose diverse poiché non avevo mai guidato una Kawasaki prima di entrare nel team. È stato fantastico imparare a conoscere meglio la moto, lavorare con i meccanici e tutti nel team prima delle prime gare. Naturalmente c’è ancora del lavoro da fare, ma la stagione è lunga. Mi sento pronto per gareggiare e sono emozionato di vedere come la moto e io reagiamo in condizioni di gara”.
Mathis Valin: “Sono stato accolto con tutto il cuore dal team e mi sono sentito subito a mio agio con i membri del team e la moto. Abbiamo lavorato molto quest’inverno con il team. Ho anche lavorato duramente fisicamente e mi sento pronto per la nuova stagione; sono felice di tornare presto a gareggiare per affrontare le sfide che ci attendono”.

Kawasaki ready for a new challenge
The Kawasaki Racing Team enters the FIM Motocross World Championship stronger than ever in 2025 as the team will compete in both major classes this year; alongside the rich history of the team in the MXGP class, a new chapter will open as they will also line up in the MX2 class.
Based in Lommel (Belgium), which is considered the ‘heart of European motocross’, the Kawasaki Racing Team has a long experience in racing in the premier off-road series as both the team owner and management have been involved in motorsport for many years.
Former Formula1 world champion Kimi Räikkönen, the team principal who has been passionate about motocross since his childhood, is universally respected in the sport as is team manager Antti Pyrhönen, who successfully contested the motocross world championship for more than a decade before turning to team management twelve years ago.
Working closely with Kawasaki Motors Ltd, the team achieved outstanding results during the last two campaigns as they celebrated twenty-three GP podiums, six GP victories and twelve moto wins in the MXGP class, the pinnacle of off-road racing.
Throughout the winter the team members and Japanese engineers have worked systematically to optimise Kawasaki’s commitment to new FIM technical and environmental rules with continued updates and refinement to the KX-SR factory machines, which themselves are developed from the stock bikes available to customers at the worldwide network of Kawasaki dealerships.
Testing went perfectly in sunny Sardinia throughout January to prepare for the first pre-season races, the first of which is hosted by the Salop Motor Club at Hawkstone Park in England prior to the opening round of the FIM World Championship in Argentina on March 1st/2nd.
It was a busy and intense winter as the team will not only remain committed to success in the MXGP class with Frenchman Romain Febvre – it will be his fourth season with the team – and Latvian Pauls Jonass – a former MX2 world champion – but also extend their portfolio by entering the MX2 class as the official Kawasaki team for the first time with Mathis Valin.
After his victorious campaign in the European EMX250 series during his first season with Kawasaki, French teenager Mathis Valin has been promoted to lead this exciting challenge with the new KX250-SR Kawasaki as KRT seek success in both classes to excite and satisfy the hunger of the lime-green community worldwide.

Pauls Jonass: “Everything has been going really good so far, good preparation and good testing weeks in Sardinia, it was good to know the bike more and more and work on different things as I have never been riding a Kawasaki before joining the team. It has been great to learn the bike better, to work with the mechanics and everyone in the team before the first races. Of course there is still some work to do, but the season is long. I feel ready to go racing and excited to see how the bike and I react in race conditions.”
Mathis Valin: “I was welcomed whole-heartedly by the team and I immediately felt comfortable with the team members and the bike. We worked a lot this winter with the team. I also worked hard physically and I feel ready for the new season; I’m happy to be back racing soon to face the challenges ahead.”
